Pink Shirt Day!!

Today I can write as Kika, but I choose not to. Today I write as Jenique~ka, my RL self. You may wonder why I would do this. The reason is because Kika has never been bullied or tormented. As my Real Life self, I have.

The feeling of pain, from words, is a pain no one should have to endure as a child or even an adult. The venom that can come from one person is unbelievable. We don’t know how much words can hurt when we’re children. We begin to understand as we get older. We don’t realize our mistakes until we’re adults; and as adults, it might be too late.

Some people may be stuck in bully mode as adults and it makes me feel sorry for them, but I know as a victim of it, I’ve become a stronger person. Though I was able to live and deal with it, there are some who aren’t as fortunate case in point, Phoebe Prince.  If you don’t know her story you can visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Phoebe_Prince. Though she is only one of many “bullycides” happening, her case brings the light to a dark cloud that is hanging over our schools, our children, and may bring stricter laws on bullying.

I’m proud to be a part of this day, not because everyone else is doing it, but because I know somewhere, it is changing someones life.

Thank you December Dollinger for all the work you’ve done to bring this cause into the utopia we call Second Life.

I'm Kika Starbrook and I wear Pink
